Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) Undergraduate Student Award

Description

The Society for Applied Spectroscopy Undergraduate Student Awardee will have demonstrated an aptitude for research in one or more of the various fields of spectroscopy and maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher in his or her undergraduate course work. Research experience can consist of assisting a professor or a graduate student with their current research or a separately designed research project related to spectroscopy. Other factors being equal, a student who works independently or in a group of other undergraduates is preferred.

Nomination materials should include the following:

  • Copy of the student’s transcripts.
  • Nomination letter from the student’s research mentor that outlines the student’s research project related to spectroscopy as well as information concerning the student’s overall research techniques and work habits.
  • Description of the research written by the student nominee. The description should be between 2-4 pages, and may include figures, graphics, and reaction schemes, etc.

The Awardee will receive $500 and a one-year subscription to the journal, Applied Spectroscopy.

Eligibility

The award is open to undergraduates in PA, OH, WV, VA, MD, NJ, DE, or NY.

Application will be available in August.
